Potteric

A great day at Potteric Carr today… the highlight came very quickly with my first ever garganey on Loversall Pool, which we also caught up with later on on Old Eea.

Garganey (record shot)

Elsewhere highlights included 4 avocets, 2 ringed plovers, 1 little ringed plover, 2 redshanks and 2 oystercatchers on Huxter Well Marsh, and a singing willow warbler and several singing chiffchaffs and blackcaps along the route.

Unfortunately the pair of black-necked grebes that breed on the reserve, and were sighted yesterday, weren’t around today. Maybe later in the Spring…

Sadly most of the photos have ended up a bit ropey today, but some very good birds seen!
