Something exotic in the snow

Another quick walk round the parks this lunchtime turned up a lone, female mandarin duck on the lake at Crookes Valley Park. It looked very out of place as the snow fell. As far as I can tell, true feral mandarins are quite rare in Sheffield, and I wonder if it’s an escape from a wildfowl collection.

I also saw at least one redwing among the blackbirds in Weston Park. And yes, that peregrine was still there!
